Apple posts Monday-only shipping discount

Following in the wake of its one-day Black Friday sale, Apple has posted another single-day special at the online Apple Store. For the duration of Monday only, all products at the store should be eligible for free shipping, regardless of expense. The deal is also not exclusive to the US, and applies to stores such as the ones in Canada, France and the United Kingdom.

Apple has received some flak for its Black Friday specials, which while consistent with previous years, are said to have been too low for the poor economic climate. Particular concern comes from Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu, who argues that the company could have fallen back on its $25 billion in net cash to move more products during the busiest shopping day of the year.

Analysts

Perhaps if Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu is so wise that he knows how to run the company better than Steve and the board, he should buy it.

Or at least...

Or at least run his own in competition with Apple.

People don't buy Apple products because they are on sale, they buy Apple products because they want Apple products. A sale only cheapens the product down the road. The lack of a significant sale on Friday won't cause any harm to Apple's bottom line, in fact, it will probably increase it.

Point in case. Last year at this time, I raised my retail prices by 20%, along with some other standards like quality, service, etc. and doubled my sales. I stopped trying to compete for the Walmart crowd and found an entirely new market. A market that had money to spend.
